haha! yeah we’d thought some fiction might be a sweet relief from heavier texts but often it’s the other way round now!! Did you have to be so organised in researching to not get ‘lost’ in who’s who?
We actually decided not to research the books very much at all and came up with a democratic system where everyone can suggest books and then we vote, so often books are suggested based on vibes haha so we don’t know what’s coming (which makes for some very interesting discussions haha)
CLARA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is so unbelievably cool. One of my favourite books, too (I treasure my copy -- two of my closest friends found it for me at a used anarchist bookstore in Montreal). SO rad that you organized all of this and I can't wait to read!!!
Ahhh thank you!!! Let me know what you think!!! So crazy to have it out there now 🫠 and omg I can’t believe you’ve got a proper copy!! I have the new print one that you can order from like a printing press but would love an early copy one day… keeping my eyes peeled 👀
I will! I'm gonna start with this PDF because we're moving & I don't want the book to get lost in the mail haha. I KNOW -- it means so much to me. It's actually a 2003 print, the Allyson Press edition (as pictured in your piece), but since it's so hard to find a copy to begin with I was thrilled. And only $6!?! I cried when they gave it to me hahahaha. Always keeping my eyes peeled for these gems, too!!
We're reading Stone Butch Blues next month in our book club, so this is great to share on to everyone coming/not able to make it!
Oh that sounds brilliant, have a good book club! Is it a themed book club?
thank you! its a feminist book club, read a mix of fiction and non fic every other month
Sounds great! I run a queer fiction book club but so much queer fiction turns out to be autofiction that we’ve started blurring the lines as well 😂
